OpFlow’s national benchmarks are composed of actual instrument usage data, vendor tray usage, and disposable supply quantity by procedure group.
Optimized tray configurations, which account for all procedure mixes that utilize each tray, combined with benchmark data, allow for faster configuration of proposed trays. Comparison of unique hospital usage data to OpFlow benchmarks serves to facilitate the approval process.
Benchmarks are comprised of the following:
Procedure Hierarchy:
Standard grouping of procedures that allows preference cards at each site to be mapped to the OpFlow procedure groups to ensure procedure(s) are the same across sites.
Instrument Hierarchy:
Standard group of instruments that allows trays at each site to be mapped to the OpFlow instrument categories to ensure comparable instruments can be categorized in unison.
Instrument usage by Procedure:
Usage data that is mapped to our procedure groups and instrument categories is shown across all systems in a de-identified manner. This allows for fewer counts for each system by aggregating all counts and audits that have been done nationally to be used in conjunction with site-specific data to enable implementation of updated tray configurations.
Procedure mix based tray configuration engine:
OpFlow’s procedure mix engine allows our rationalization team to select procedures within our hierarchy to show all required instruments regardless of the tray in which they reside. These procedures are mapped to a standard tray design pattern enabling configuration of multiple trays within a service line. The output configurations serve as “proposed” trays that are used during validations.
All benchmark data are proprietary to OpFlow and are used during our processes but not distributed to customers. Access to benchmarks is available during engagements, incorporated in our virtual assessment, and utilized for sustainment after projects are complete.
